Forced Settlement or the Real Dublin Regulation?

Abstract

The Common European Asylum System falls under the shared competence of the Member States and EU institutions and one of the key elements of its reform is the recast of Dublin III Regulation. Besides the introduction of the current regulation this article examines the key elements of the proposal of EU Commission and the responses of the EU Parliament. At the end the paper clarifies the meaning of “forced settlement”, which was a popular phase during the referendum in 2016.
