Abstract

The drug policy of the recently elected president of the Philippines, Rodrigo Duterte, has become a frequently mentioned topic in the international press, which is a brutal action against both the dealers and users of narcotics. How serious were the drug-related crimes in the Philippines before the presidency of Duterte, and what changed after the ‘operation double-barrel’ had been started? How many victims did it claim, and how many people went to prison? What do the Filipino society, the significant countries of global politics and the international organizations think about it? The author of this article is trying to find the answers to these questions.
