Border Traffic Control and Forgery of Official Documents between 2005 and 2017

doi: 10.32577/mr.2018.3.3

Abstract

The amount and distribution of forged official documents revealed during border traffic controls were influenced by the adopted control techniques and by the fact that Hungary had made significant steps towards and had prepared for the Schengen membership. There is a clear correlation between the shift in the forgery methods of official documents and the security and defence elements of the documents used as the object of forgery. The documents, which contain such security elements that are adjusted to the technological state of development of the era, are less likely to become the 'targets’ of forgers compared to those which have low level protection system.
