Security in Hungary in the System of European Processes

doi: 10.32567/hm.2019.4.15

Abstract

The topic of the study is that Hungary is a nation state embedded and stabilised in the relations of European processes, while EU and NATO membership did not reduce its security threat. As a proof of this theory, the thesis presents the European challenges and international processes that define, characterise or influence Hungary’s security. The first part highlights the challenges of the European defence system and then analyses and evaluates Hungary’s position and role in the European security architecture, relying on relevant strategic documents. The last part of the article examines the national capabilities of our defence system and certain elements of the international contribution.
