Abstract
Security is becoming more and more valorized today. In Hungary also, the emerging security hazards and the forming emergencies require an effective adaptation to the dynamically changing security environment from organizations involved in security sustainment. In our country, the government is placing more emphasis on increasing security, in particular rural security, since its protection is extremely important for the operation of the country. In Hungary, the reform of administrative and defense departments started in 2010, resulting the creation of new offices and organizational units. In my paper, I will investigate the role of disaster branch offices and district offices in enhancing rural security. Developing the activities of professional organizations involved in security sustainment, addressing challenges caused by continuous changes, designing future development directions are all important and current tasks. My aim is to contribute to enhancing rural security by presenting my research findings, addressing the challenges which are being faced, and the effective functioning of organizations under investigation.
