Abstract

The existing or not existing motivation of the disaster management volunteers can be determinant during a disaster management operation. Motivated volunteers will be much more effective doing tasks, and they will be able to help the operation with their own ideas, resources, and self-organisation. The lack of motivation can produce the opposite, and in extreme situations there will be no or not enough volunteers on the scene of defence. It is really important to examine the inner components and outer effects of their motivations, because the understanding and the result of the research can highly improve the efficiency of their use.
