FORESTRY SOLUTIONS FOR FOREST FIRE PREVENTION

Abstract

Forest fires and the inherent risks are posing a growing challenge to the defence sector. As a result of climate change, the number of forest fires has increased in all of Europe, including Hungary as well. Such a forest fire leads to enormous damage and firefighting costs, so a solution to this problem needs to be found. The solution can be approached both from the side of intervention and of prevention. This paper presents solutions of the latter approach, through domestic and foreign examples. Forestry solutions and practices of forest fire prevention are described within the modern, technical and traditional methods. The paper can formulate forest fire prevention methods as results, which can provide enormous help to the intervening staff for effective firefighting. By doing so, fire costs could be reduced, which would mean lower expenditure for the national economy.
