Mechanical Protection as Delay in Physical Security

Abstract

We speak many times in the security profession about one of the most important protection elements of physical protection, is the mechanical protection. Apart from a few exceptional cases (physical protection of nuclear installations), we almost never deal with the fact that one of the most important tasks of mechanical protection elements is the ability to delay. Using up the elements of a mechanical protection system, which are architectural parts sometimes, we will be able to prevent or impede the intruders to access into the protected area in the desired time. In my article I will reveal the details of this function, which could help to change the attitude of engineers and prospective customers.
