Abstract

Through the recent immense development in information technology and microelectronics, virtual reality (VR) devices have become increasingly sophisticated, providing close-to-real life experiences. VR technology has proved to be an  essential training tool in various military and law enforcement applications for over a decade. My article series is aimed at uncovering the remarkable in-house development possibilities based on the  modular nature of this technology. Through applied  research, these state-of-the-art VR platforms may  deserve international recognition and also have the potential to revolutionise certain components of military training. In the first part of my series, my objective is to give an overview of easily accessible  products and technologies that enable us to turn the above mentioned goals into reality, whereas the second part is intended to compare the key parameters and capabilities of these solutions and  modules with the characteristics of different training
areas. In addition, my articles also discuss certain further prerequisites of successful in-house national developments.
