Possibilities and Security Challenges of Using IoT For Military Purposes

The most recognizable shift in the age of the modern warfare is that information became the most effective weapon of all. The situational awareness based on the collected information became the core of every military operations. Information operations as a new domain entered the battlefield, the integrated network of sensors, weapon systems and platforms became force multiplier. In the advent of new technologies, new tools and processes appeared based on the concept of networkcentric warfare.

The aim of this article is to introduce the possibilities of using IoT for military purposes and to discover the IoT related security challenges and their potential countermeasures focusing on the devices and technologies used in the military IoT domain.
