Abstract
This paper examines the legal questions regarding the competence of the European Union to discontinue seasonal changes of time. The legal basis for the adoption of such legislation is laid down in Article 114 TFEU. Since Article 114 TFEU does not grant general power to regulate the internal market, specific conditions have to be met in order to adopt such legislation. These conditions were interpreted several times by the European Court of Justice providing a rich case-law. This paper scrutinises the proposal in the light of the said case-law. Beside legal considerations, this article presents the pros and cons of discontinuing seasonal changes of time, and it also showcases the results of studies analysing this topic. The conclusion is that the competence of the European Union to discontinue seasonal changes of time based on Article 114 TFEU is not clear.
