Engineer Geniuses: Gusztáv Győző Murahidy

Abstract

Gusztáv Murahidy could showcase his engineering skills on all European fronts of the First World War. Together with his brothers in arms, he built, repaired and strengthened numerous bridges. He built firing positions, installed wire entanglements, and when needed, fought shoulder to shoulder with the infantry. He stayed in his beloved profession of the Great War, taught at the Ludovika Academy, then served as an engineering chief officer.  Following honourable service in the Second World War, he still stayed in his profession, but by that time, he aided the  work of the United States Army as a civilian engineer.
