German Fortification System during the Hungarian Battles of World War II

doi: 10.32562/mkk.2022.1.5

Abstract

In my scientific work I present the German troops’ fortification elements of the general fortification and technical closure used in the second half of World War II (1943–1945). Each of the artefacts presented could be constructed of materials and at a speed that allowed them to be used in a fortification system such as the fortification systems in the Pannonian Basin in general. In doing so, my research will help researchers investigating former fortified terrain sections and help them learn about the immediate predecessors of the currently fortified building types. The detailed presentation of the discussed fortification structures facilitates the understanding of their development history and their comparison e.g. with works of art of the Soviet type.
