Abstract
In Hungary the safety requirements of nuclear facilities have made it necessary to elaborate such primary principles that accomplish well-established, comprehensive protective functions. The elaboration criteria are based on the existing experiences of nuclear technologies and their applications, the findings of health and environmental impact studies. The specificities of the individual facilities, such as the detailed elaboration of the accident prevention and protection system of the nuclear power plant in Paks, assure the effective implementation of the comprehensive nuclear accident protection, in accordance with the necessities. In the two parts of the present article the authors cover the aspects of the policies and procedures of Hungarian nuclear accident protection, with the assessment of related radiation and health impacts.
