Abstract

The subject of my thesis is the examination of the musk ambrette, which is one of the isomers of TNT. The question which I intend to answer in my thesis is whether sabotage may be prevented by using this compound.
The answer is given by the mass spectroscopy examinations and the related separation procedures. The measuring devices operating based on the principle of chromatography are basically developed for the separation of chemical compounds however by supplementing with a detection system specific for the component to be examined an efficient identification procedure may be established. By means of spectrometry, more direct information may be obtained from the structure of the explosive molecule.
I intend to support or refute the feasibility of the sabotage by using the results of the examinations based on this method.
As a future Engineer of Military and Security Technique, I consider important to detect the possible hazard sources, as well as to prevent, perceive and eliminate these in the proper way by means of the available methods.
