Responses to Road Accidents Performed by Fire Service Units of Management under Night Conditions
Abstract
Night interventions are inevitable in the lives of firefighters, because incidents can occur at any time, regardless of the time of day. We cannot find a person in the intervention units who has never taken part in night interventions. In the paper the author examined road incidents occurring at night and the typical characteristics and unfavourable conditions of the resulting fire service interventions. In addition to reviewing the relevant literature and related studies and statistics, the author consulted with members of the fire service personnel to gain a clear understanding of the topic. The author aims to give an overview of the tasks of the fire service as a primary response unit as well as difficulties and characteristics emerging during night interventions. Furthermore, the paper covers the physiological effects of night fire service interventions on the human body.
