Experiences with Compensation in Hungary
The Compensation Methodology of Residential Homes Built Using Martin Slag, Potential Technical Ssolutions of Recovery
Abstract
In relation to the damage compensation to residential homes in Ózd built using Martin slag, a decision was first made in 2001, which established that significant damages occurred to the buildings containing Martin slag distributed by Ózd Metallurgical Works, which had been state-owned and then ceased without a legal successor. Therefore, the Government undertook to provide support as a self-imposed obligation by ensuring housing conditions in case of recovery and life-threatening buildings. As of today, during the process of compensation, the number of property owners undergoing survey has considerably decreased.
