Safety Aspects of Water Supply

Abstract

Water utilities are a part of the public service. The continuity of drinking water supply must be ensured in all circumstances. Water supply is part of the critical infrastructure and the supply area and their facilities are not always owned by waterworks therefore the design of the protection requires specialties. The authors provide a brief summary of the security considerations to be taken into account when designing the physical protection of water supply and highlight the factors that need to be taken into account by professionals working in the water supply sector.
