The Role of Aerial Reconnaissance and Data Acqusition of Imagery Intelligence in the Work of Voluntary Rescue Organizations

Abstract

The development of local aerial reconnaissance capabilities of volunteer rescue organizations helps to respond quickly and efficiently to natural and manmade disaster situations. The human resources and technical flexibility of volunteer rescue organizations enable an effective use of the opportunities unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) offer. The rapid development of UAVs and of their data acquisition systems (e.g. size and weight reduction, capacity increase) has opened up new perspectives in efficient disaster prevention and its rapid management. Aerial reconnaissance and data acquisition of imagery intelligence improve the efficacy of interventions, and help to reduce costs.
