Introduction of a Small Capacity Wastewater Treatment Unit

Abstract

Centralized wastewater system is an effective technology in wastewater treatment utilizing municipal and industrial discharges. The intensified technologies require external energy source, chemical addition, however, large quantity of wastewater can be treated in a relatively small plant and the process is controlled. In some cases, there is no opportunity to connect to centralized system, decentralized, small capacity systems need to be applied. In this study a small capacity unique system is investigated by detailing the applicability, design and operation considerations. An appropriately operated system could treat 1-10 population equivalent wastewater load.
