Abstract

In the past few years several wildfires have been registered in Hungary. A significant proportion of wildfires was broken out during total fire ban. Thus it was necessary to change the fire ban system owing to reorganization of the public administration, the alteration of the fire protection regulation, more efficient communication on wildfire protection and changing fire ignition habits. The new regulation can promote establishing a new fire ban system based on fire danger rating. A review of the related best practices around the world is a great way to consider the scope of developments.
