Properties of the Training of the Intervention Staff of Disaster Management

Abstract

In most cases firefighters perform primary intervention activities during technical rescues and firefighting. Such  interventions are highly varied, there are no two similar cases. In these years, during damage management and rescue operations, members of the intervention staff are facing new challenges and tasks. In order to successfully overcome these and provide efficient and safe working conditions for them, proper and high quality training is indispensable right from the beginning. The goal of the author is to describe the training of firefighters in contemporary Hungary, the steps in the firefighting career and the necessary competences required from the members of the staff. In order to do this, the author has examined training materials for the professional staff and related articles of law, and consulted experts of the fields in education and training.
