Public Governance, Administration and Finances is being published both in printed and in electronic forms, it's legal predecessor (Public Governance, Administration and Finances Law Review) was issued  first time by Wolters Kluwer Hungary Kft. as an English-language international journal of public administration, governance and finances in the year 2016. The Editorial Board is constituted of the representatives of about 25 domestic and foreign institutions. This widespread international collaboration was deemed to be a significant aspect of the journal’s character, already at the time of its establishment. This international scientific community – typically composed of researchers from the fields of jurisprudence, public governance and financial law – was able to build on its members’ outstanding individual professional backgrounds, which served and still serves as a guarantee for the journal’s continuous operation. The rights of the founder were appropriated by the National University of Public Service in 2017, which invariably preserved the journal’s strong international character and diversified personal composition, which ensures the conditions of continuous operation and both the domestic and foreign freedom of scientific research.

The journal is published twice a year, in June and November.

The Journal’s priority is to attain more and more references both in the Web of Science’s Social Sciences Citation’s index and in the Scopus database. The records of the published studies are automatically added to the Crossref’s database and the Database of Hungarian Scientific Works (MTMT), while the full texts of the studies are archived by the REAL repository. The open source, editor driven journal manager and publisher Open Journal System (OJS), which was developed for online management and publishing, provides full indexing of the contents and, with various export solutions, makes it possible to build automatisms, e.g. in the field of DOI and ORCID registration, or the transfer of data to MTMT.

The infrastructure and budgeting conditions related to the journal’s working, with special emphasis of the costs of the journal’s international scientific visibility, are provided by the Faculty of Public Governance and International Studies of  National University of Public Service.
